Incoming PPMS 6th Grade Families and Students,
Hello and welcome! My name is Kelly Szesterniak, principal at Pilgrim Park Middle School. This email is being sent to all 5th grade parents and students in preparation for the transition to PPMS next year. Below, you will find a link to a Pilgrim Park welcome video. Our intention with this video is to welcome you, assist you in getting to know a little about Pilgrim Park, introduce you to a few of our amazing staff members, and provide you with some details about the transition process. I have also included the video script for ease of reference. Both parents and students are encouraged to view this video as a first step in the transition process.
PPMS 5th Grade Welcome Video Script
I know it may feel a bit early to start thinking about this transition to middle school, but the scheduling process is right around the corner! You will receive a second message from PPMS on January 29th with detailed information about course registration. The registration window will run from January 29th through February 12th and will be completed through Infinite Campus.
In addition to viewing this video and completing course registration, there are several other components of the 5th to 6th transition process that we utilize to ensure that all students are ready for middle school. Mark your calendars for the following:
- April 24th: Meet and Greet Event at Pilgrim Park 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm - Parents and students are welcome to come to PPMS to complete a self guided tour of the building, meet your principals, counselor and some of your future teachers!
- May (various dates): 5th Grade Classroom Visits - Principal and counselor visit each 5th grade class to help them learn about middle school and to answer questions.
- August 21st: Locker Picture Day 12:00 pm until 7:00 pm - Parents and students come to PPMS to take their school photo, set up lockers, and to walk your schedule in preparation for the start of school
- August 28th: Adventures in Middle School (morning, times to be shared at a later date) - This is a special orientation event for 6th graders only. Students spend time with the teachers, tour the building, learn about the middle school day, and more! We highly recommend our incoming 6th graders participate if you are able.
- September 2nd: First Day of School!
